CURTICE, Ohio — Authorities are investigating after the body of a missing man was pulled from the water near Lake Erie on Wednesday afternoon.
The body was reported by a fisher on a dock at Anchor Pointe Marina in Jerusalem Township around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to Lucas County Sheriff's Office Lt. John Leach.
The body was pulled from the water by first responders and later identified by the Lucas County Coroner's Office as 62-year-old Troy Joseph Valentine, according to Sheriff Mike Navarre. Valentine was reported missing from Holland since the evening of April 14.
Valentine's vehicle was located April 15 near Maumee Bay State Park and the Oregon Police Department requested the public's assistance in locating him at the time.
It is unclear what the circumstances of Valentine's death may be.
Phil Estes, the fisher who said he spotted Valentine's body, spoke with WTOL 11 at the scene.
"I was out getting my dock and deck ready, and sitting on the chair I look out in the canal, it looked like a log at first, but as it got closer I identified it as a body," Estes said. "It was about 30 yards away when I called 911."
The investigation into Valentine's cause of death is ongoing.
