TOLEDO, Ohio — According to Toledo fire, a call came in to dispatch for a fire at a train yard in central Toledo at 7:40 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2.
TFRD said the fire was located at the bottom of a coal container in one of the train cars located at the train yard off of Hill Avenue, near Fearing Street.
Firefighters report that the car on fire was initially located deep within the train yard and authorities had to contact the train company to move the on-fire car to a loading dock off Hill Avenue.
TFRD states they are currently working to penetrate the bottom of the coal container with water to extinguish the fire.
TFRD reports that the EPA has been contacted in regard to the ongoing incident as a precaution, in case any runoff from the coal enters the sewer system.
Toledo fire said no one was injured and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
