Firefighter discharged from hospital after being injured in Springfield Township fire

Firefighter officials at the scene told WTOL 11 a family of four living in the home was able to escape safely before the flames got out of control.

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio — UPDATE: Jonathon Zier, fire chief of Springfield Township, told WTOL 11 at a meeting Tuesday evening that the injured firefighter had been discharged from the hospital.

A firefighter was taken to the hospital after help put out a massive fire at a mobile home in Springfield Township early Tuesday.

Springfield fire crews responded to the scene of a double-wide trailer engulfed in flames around 3:30 a.m. at Woodside Terrace off of Angola Road. 

Firefighter officials at the scene told WTOL the mother was alerted of the smoke and rushed to wake everyone up. The family of four was then able to escape safely before the flames got out of control.

The firefighter was hospitalized with unknown injuries.

The mobile home sustained major damage and is said to be a total loss.
