Outpouring of support continues for child whose parents were killed in Fremont Pike Crash Saturday

Jacob Hahn and Savannah Harding, were killed in a crash along Fremont Pike in Wood County on Dec. 9., leaving behind a 9-month-old son.

ELMORE, Ohio — Following the tragic crash that left a local 9-month-old without his parents, the community continues an outpouring of support for the boy and his extended family.

The boy's parents, Jacob Hahn and Savannah Harding, were killed in a crash along Fremont Pike in Wood County on Dec. 9.

A Toledo woman, Samantha Hammons, 55, caused the three-vehicle crash, according to police. She has been charged with two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide.

The Perrysburg Municipal Court released court documents which stated that Hammons was under the influence of alcohol prior to getting behind the wheel, leading to the fatalities.

Since the crash, many local businesses and community groups have organized fundraising events to support Beckett and his family.

"None of us can take away the pain away, but we can help to ease the burden that is left behind," said Jes Reynolds, the owner of Unvaulted Treasures, one of the participating businesses.

DeStazio's and Rayz Cafe, restaurants in Elmore and Genoa, also donated a percentage of their profits to the cause.

Piles of clothing, blankets, diapers and other items were stacked inside Unvaulted Treasures Wednesday. Reynolds said that packages were arriving daily, and she often started her day bringing the donations in.

"We have never been so busy before on a weekday. We had a line out of the door of the restaurant to even get seated," said Issac St. Marie, co-owner of Rayz Cafe.

On Wednesday, DeStazio's donated  100% of their profits to the cause. They were so successful, they ran out of product.

"We actually had a number of people come in and just make donations and didn't even buy a pizza. Everyone just wants to support this family," said co-owner, Connie DeStazio.

DeStazio said they've been participating in fundraisers for six years, and this year was the most successful by far.
