TOLEDO, Ohio — André Norrils joined WTOL 11 as a full-time news reporter/multiskilled journalist in August, 2023. However, his first job at the station was as a summer intern in 2022. Working at WTOL isn’t the only connection he has to the community. André was born in Toledo and lived in the area until the age of 6, attending Winterfield Venture Academy.

In 2021, André got his start in journalism at WOUB Public Media, a PBS affiliate in Athens, Ohio. While there he was an anchor, reporter and video editor for the station’s newscasts, all while studying at Ohio University’s E.W. Scripps School of Journalism. He graduated in May, 2023.

While at WOUB, André covered education, business, politics and more. He was the main reporter on the coverage of believed racial incidents toward Black students at Ohio University, which led to protests on the campus. André also had the opportunity to co-anchor an election special, while also assisting the team with putting the elements of the show together.

In his free time, André enjoys learning piano, catching up on shows, cruising, and spending time with his dog, Milo.
