TOLEDO, Ohio — Sophia Perricone joined WTOL 11 in June 2024 as a weekend anchor and multi-skilled journalist.
Although she was born and raised in Southern California, Sophia is not new to Northwest Ohio.
After graduating from Pace University in New York City in 2019, Sophia started her journalism career at Toledo's former NBC affiliate.
While at Pace University, Sophia interned at several notable stations and networks, including the No. 1 local news station in the country, WABC-TV, CBS Mornings, and CBS' "48 Hours."
Following her initial two-year stint in Toledo, Sophia reported in Las Vegas, where she covered several major stories, including the DUI crash involving Las Vegas Raiders player Henry Ruggs. While in Las Vegas, she won an Emmy for a special report on Nevada's booming cannabis industry.
She then took a break from journalism to work in marketing and communications at her alma mater in New York, before returning to Toledo to join WTOL 11.
Sophia is excited and proud to be part of the WTOL 11 team!
When she is not working, she enjoys reading, baking, playing tennis (although she says she's not very good at it), and exploring new restaurants across Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan.
