TOLEDO, Ohio — In an effort to keep children warm during the winter months, Susie's Coats for Kids and Hannah's Socks will be holding the 18th annual Distribution Day.
The event will be held on Saturday, Sept. 21 at Jones Leadership Academy, 430 Nebraska Avenue in Toledo, from 9 a.m. to noon.
Coats, hats, gloves, socks, new undergarments, goody bags, pajamas, dental hygiene products and new or gently used shoes will be available for families. The Toledo Fire Department will also be making smoke detectors available.
Susie's Coats for Kids and Hannah's Socks said documentation of need is not required, but children must be present to receive items, or documentation must be provided.
Organizers for the event said the first 300 families to Distribution Day will receive tickets to the Toledo Mud Hens game for the same night, along with a food voucher. The Toledo Zoo will also be providing 500 one-day admission tickets that will be valid for a year, and the Toledo Metroparks is offering 500 admission tickets to the Ribbon Ice Rink at Glass City Metropark.
“We are thrilled to launch our Annual Distribution event, ensuring that every child in our community has access to warm, quality winter apparel,” executive director Susan Perry said. “As the colder months approach, it's our priority to support families by providing essential items that offer both comfort and protection. Together, we're making sure no child faces the winter without the warmth they deserve.”
