ROSSFORD, Ohio — If you're looking for some free summer fun, Rossford will be holding its annual Riverfest on Saturday.
The event is open to the public and runs from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17 at Veterans Memorial Park, located at 300 Hannum Avenue.
Riverfest will feature a pierogi eating contest, inflatables, a dunk tank, beer, food trucks, Polka music by the Duane Malinowski Orchestra and rock music by the Dos Dudes band.
Ethnic food presented by All Saints Catholic Church featured at the event includes homemade pierogi, kielbasa, stuffed cabbage, pulled pork sandwiches and kolache.
“Riverfest is a great way to celebrate our city and the end of summer,” said Toby Ledesma, Director, Rossford’s Parks and Recreation Director. “It’s the perfect time for family and friends to enjoy a wholesome evening of fun and great food. We end the evening with a spectacular fireworks show which people can watch right here in Veterans Park.”
The pierogi eating contest begins at 8 p.m. and contestants will have three minutes to eat as many pierogi as they can. Winners in both the male and female divisions will be rewarded a $125 cash prize.
Shuttle buses for the event will be available at Rossford High School, All Saints Catholic Church and the former Indian Hills Elementary School.
