TOLEDO, Ohio — The weather isn't the only thing heating up in Toledo this week. Things will be getting steamy downtown at the library for the first-ever "Romance-Con."
The Toledo Lucas County Public Library is hosting the event, which features a full schedule of programming for romance readers and authors alike.
Romance-Con is free and open to the public with more than 50 authors slated to attend, including featured author Abby Jimenez.
Jimenez is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of "Just for the Summer" and will host a discussion and Q&A at the library. Pre-signed copies of Jimenez's books will be available and she will take photos with a limited number of fans.
Tickets for the featured authors have been distributed, but day-of wait lines will also be available as space allows.
Authors Julie Soto, Jo Segura, Kimberly Lemming, C.M. Nascosta and Kathryn Moon will also be in attendance and signing and taking photos during the event.
If you are not able to make the author talks, there are other panels and workshops happening at the same time. All are on a first-come, first-served basis, with topics ranging from how to write engaging intimate scenes, to celebrating queer love, to "romantasy" and more.
Participants can also take part in a book cover photo shoot and bring home a printed book cover image featuring "some green screen magic" and build a button that shows off your favorite romance trope of choice.
The Toledo Library Romance-Con is Saturday from 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at the Main Library, located at 325 Michigan St. in downtown Toledo.
Plus, Romance-Con isn't limited to just adults. From 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m., kids can take part in a "Love & Friendship Scavenger Hunt."
