OHIO, USA — Nature's Nursery placed a call for help on social media Wednesday to locate perfect homes for some residents who are ready to return to the wild.

The wildlife rescue and rehabilitation center takes in thousands of animals each year to its facility in Whitehouse, many of which are squirrels. Once the squirrels are ready to be released back into the wild, Nature's Nursery needs to find suitable locations for the little critters to thrive.

In this case, black and grey squirrels need to find homes with a little help to get through the winter.

The two are not separate species of squirrels, according to the Ohio Division of Wildlife, with black squirrels simply being a subgroup of a different color.

To be considered for a release site, Nature's Nursery said that a candidate must own property that already has black and/or grey squirrels. The property owner will need to commit to feeding the squirrels daily all winter long until spring, as they have not had time to store food. Nature's Nursery will provide a nest box, which you will need to hang from a tree for the squirrels.

"If you meet the above criteria and would love to watch some squirrels enjoying their first winter, at your house, please complete this short form and we may be in touch," the organization said in its post.

The form requires a full address of the property that you own, the county where it is located, a brief description of property characteristics, which squirrels you have on your property (grey, black or both,) and a commitment to feed the squirrels until spring.

To volunteer your property as a release site for the little critters, visit this link or read more information below.
