TOLEDO, Ohio — The Toledo Zoo on Tuesday announced it welcomed two new critters to its family earlier in May.
Red-ruffed lemurs Aurora and Borealis were born on May 11, the day after northwest Ohio and much of the Northern Hemisphere witnessed a dazzling lights display of the same name as the two siblings.
"These babies are healthy, steadily gaining weight and mobility, and enjoying time in their nest with mom," the zoo said on social media.
Their parents are Tanana and Ferris. The zoo did not say what the siblings' genders are.
Aurora and Borealis join the zoo's more than 50 species of mammals from six continents, according to its website.
