TOLEDO, Ohio — Layoffs at the Jeep Assembly Complex in Toledo are being avoided with employee rollovers.
Over 900 workers were set to be laid off, but are being kept on with the rollovers, according to a letter dated Jan. 30 the United Auto Workers sent to its members.
Of those rollovers, 372 are staying at the Jeep Assembly Complex. The other 528 are being offered employment at the Toledo Machining Plant in Perrysburg and the Jefferson Assembly Plant in Detroit.
The date of the rollovers has not yet been released at this time.
UAW Local 12 President Bruce Baumhower said "this is a very fluid thing."
"We had a conversation for a couple hours this morning with the corporation and we think we're gonna be able to reduce the pain that has been announced," he said.
