TOLEDO, Ohio — Both of Toledo's Jeep Assembly plants have been shut down for weeks, despite Stellantis' initial statement that said the plants would remain shut down for a shorter amount of time.
Here's what we know about these shutdowns and those impacted.
These closures at Toledo's North and South plants were only supposed to last one week, according to Stellantis. But now, the shutdown is entering its third week, and may continue.
UAW Representatives told WTOL 11 the closures are independent of one another.
According to UAW Local 12 President Bruce Baumhower, Toledo North is short on wire harnesses, and they have a model mix issue with the wranglers.
Over at Toledo South, the plant is getting ready to convert the Gladiator over to a hybrid vehicle. But that can't start until the model 2024 inventory has been cleared out.

The most recent statement from Stellantis for Toledo North reads:
"Stellantis continues to take the necessary actions to improve operations across the U.S. market in support of its dealer network; this includes making production adjustments where necessary to improve its competitiveness in the marketplace. The Company will continue to monitor the situation to assess whether further production adjustments are needed."
And their statement for Toledo South reads:
"As we transition to the 2025 model year, the Jeep brand is making it easier for consumers to experience the iconic Gladiator midsize pickup by lowering pricing and adding standard equipment," Stellantis said in part.
