TOLEDO, Ohio — Editor's note: The attached video is from the announcement of layoffs by Stellantis affecting Jeep plant employees.
More than 200 Mobis North America employees will be laid off from the Stickney Avenue plant, according to an announcement from the company Friday. The announcement came on the heels of news of layoffs that will affect workers at Toledo's Jeep plant.
The permanent layoffs for Mobis workers will begin on Jan. 5, 2025, and affects assemblers and maintenance technicians, Mobis' administration said in the announcement. The total number of employees laid off is 210 and members of UAW Local 12 are affected.
The layoffs were prompted by a loss of customer orders, Mobis leadership said in the announcement. Mobis said it was notified of its customers' intent on Wednesday.
Tyson Stoll, head of production group, wrote the official notice to "regrettably inform the State of Ohio ... that our facility has the unfortunate and unforeseeable need to drastically reduce our workforce due to loss of customer orders."
The official notice comes only days after Stellantis, which also operates plants on Stickney Avenue, announced layoffs impacting over 1,000 employees due to a change in operating pattern.
