OHIO, USA — As the fall season approaches, Ohio's buckeyes were voted as the nation's 31st favorite dish for the season, according to a poll carried out by Wealth of Geeks.
The sweet treat is named after the state tree and made with peanut butter and chocolate, resembling the nut of the buckeye tree.
"The rich, sweet flavor of buckeyes makes them a beloved snack, perfect for sharing at tailgates and fall gatherings across Ohio," the poll from Wealth of Geeks says.
Taking home the top spot in the poll of 3,000 foodies is the Illinois pumpkin pie. Wealth of Geek says Illinois is the top producer of pumpkins in the U.S.
"The smooth, spiced filling made from fresh pumpkin puree is a symbol of the autumn harvest. Pumpkin pie is especially popular during Thanksgiving, but it’s enjoyed throughout the fall as a sweet reminder of Illinois’s agricultural abundance," the poll says.
