GREENSBORO, N.C. — A twin mom delivered her second set of twins with the help of medical professionals - who also happened to be twins!
Cone Health shared the incredible birth story on its website. Mom Angelia Tutt always knew she wanted a big family. She comes from a family of eight and also has a twin brother.
"It's like having a best friend for life; we do everything together, we talk about everything, and we have our little language sometimes where people don't understand what we're saying," Tutt said.
Not only that, her mother also had two sets of twins!
"She told me growing up that I always wanted to do things that she did, and so she had two sets of twins, and now I have my own two sets of twins, so I guess I asked for it," Angelia Tutt laughed.
Angelia had her first baby six years ago - a little girl. Then, in 2023, she gave birth to twin boys.
"Once I had my first child, my daughter, I didn't expect to have any more kids afterward, but five years later, I was surprised," she said. "I wanted another baby, and I wanted a boy; I didn't think it would be twins, but my mom kept telling me the whole time it was going to be twins, and I didn't believe her, and when I finally got my ultrasound and I told her there were twins, she was like, 'I told you, I knew it,' so I got excited about having twins."
Just a few weeks ago, she gave birth to her second set of twin boys.
"I was having dreams about having another girl," Angelia said. But instead, she delivered a boy...and then, to her surprise, another one!
"I feel like the best part so far is watching them interact together," she said. "I haven't had a lot of experiences with them yet but just seeing them grow up together, seeing them have their little fights, their little play moments, I think that's cute, I love it."
Cone Health says around 3% of the population is a twin. But those odds got tossed aside in this delivery room because suddenly, twins were all around!
One of the delivery nurses told Tutt that she was a twin. Then another doctor spoke up, saying he was also a twin. The respiratory therapist was also a twin and had twins herself.
Twins were everywhere!
"I wasn't expecting twin boys, and now I have four," Tutt's husband, Elliot, said. "Every day is fun. I always learn something new."
"Twins will always be true to each other,” Angelia said. “They will stay close. And they will always be each other’s best friend.” And they might be sharing that experience with more people than they know."
