TIFFIN, Ohio — A long-term plan to draw in new business in Seneca County is finally paying off.
A speculative industrial building was built two years ago in an empty field on the edge of Tiffin's Eagle Rock Business Park.
A speculative building is a shell structure that is move-in ready to incentivize a business to move in.
Now, TH Plastics has announced plans to move in and expand production of plastic products for regional appliance and automotive manufacturers.
TH needs more room than the 50,000 square feet the building holds, so the company is already adding on more than double the square feet.
Economic development leaders believe the risk of paying for the spec building years ago will now pay off in a big way.
"It shows this is a worthwhile investment. This is a company is going to hopefully coming into your community, grow with your community, adding new jobs, adding to the tax base. So, that initial investment pays off over time." said Development Manager with Tiffin-Seneca Economic Partnership, Nick Dutro.
And the finalizing construction and expansion of the spec building is set to be completed by the end of next summer, with TH Plastics to begin operations in the fall of 2021.
