TOLEDO, Ohio — Saving money on spring break can be a challenge since nearly everyone is trying to skip town around the same time. So, how can you pay less for this much-needed trip? That depends on the type of vacation and when you book it.
A local travel agent with Travel Connections has some tips on how to save a few extra dollars.
(1) To save some cash, try to book your travel on a week day.
For example, see if you can depart on Friday afternoon instead of Saturday morning. Prices could be even lower if you fly Sunday to Sunday or Monday to Monday, but you’ll never know unless you check. The same is true for hotels, where weekend prices tend to be higher.
(2) Another helpful tip is try to be flexible as much as you can while traveling.
This can also mean choosing an international destination is traditionally cheaper than picking a domestic location.
"Because of resort availability and air availability – so supply and demand again – Jamaica, Dominican republic and Mexico are absolutely, hands-down top three bang for the buck destinations,” added Dawn Kelly, owner of Travel Connections.
