2 dead in US 6 accident, near Helena

The Ohio State Highway says two people were killed and two others were hurt in an accident near Helena, Ohio Friday.

HELENA, OH (Toledo News Now) - The Ohio State Highway says two people were killed and two others were hurt in an accident near Helena, Ohio Friday.

The accident happened at US 6 and County Road 32 at approximately 4:30 p.m.

John Clark, 56, from Huron, was driving westbound on US 6 in a Dodge Grand Caravan. He crossed the center line and struck a Ford Escape driven by Carlla Dixon-Bowers, 49, from Lima. Dixon-Bowers' vehicle traveled off the south side of the road and came to rest in a ditch.

Clark was flown to St. Vincent's Hospital in Toledo, where he later passed away. Dixon-Bowers was pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident.

Cynthia Clark, 55, and Jennifer Clark, 25, both of Huron, were also in the van. They both suffered non-life threatening injuries and were transported by ambulance to the hospital.

Route 6 was closed for three hours in both directions due to the accident.
