Bars downtown Toledo participating in memorial pub crawl Friday

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - Ten different downtown Toledo bars are participating in the Bradey Weaver Memorial Pub Crawl September 28. 28-year old Weaver was killed in a hit and run accident this August.

"Bradey was acutely aware that life changes in an instant, and so he lived life knowing that it could change at any moment," said mother Cynthia Weaver.

Bradey was heading to Las Vegas on his new Harley when the accident happened in Kansas.

"He let me know that he was in a motorcycle accident, and they are investigating it as a hit and run," said Weaver.

Bradey lived at the Commodore Perry Apartments downtown.

"It's not like a normal community. We're always doing things together. So when something happens to somebody, it's like something happened to a part of your family," said Barbie Zachrich with the Commodore Perry Apartments.

Ten bars are donating 10 percent of their earnings Friday night. The Park Inn is offering discounted rates and AAA has a tipsy tow service. The Commodore Perry parking garage will have free parking for anyone on the crawl.

"Everybody's just stepping up. I get a phone call almost every day saying, 'we want to be involved. We want to do something," said Zachrich.

"It's absolutely amazing to me. As tragic as it is, you get to see the human spirit at work here," said Weaver.

The money will go toward funeral expenses for his family.
