Bowling Green Schools to appoint new superintendent Tuesday

Big changes are on the way for Bowling Green School as new superintendent Francis Scruci will be appointed Tuesday afternoon.

BOWLING GREEN, OH (Toledo News Now) - Big changes are on the way for Bowling Green Schools as new superintendent Francis Scruci will be appointed Tuesday afternoon.

Scruci replaces Dr. Ann McVey, who is retiring after 35 years. The new superintendent will officially start his three year contract on July 1st.

School leaders say Scruci will have the hit the ground running. Two tax levy renewals are on on the May ballot. The first is for 1.6 mills and the second is a 4.2 mills levy.?

According to the school board president, both levies currently provide about $3.5 million, nearly 12 percent of the district's budget. These levies fund day to day operations as well as vital instruction and programs for Bowling Green students.

The school board president tells WTOL 11 Scruci has experience running successful levy campaigns, however his role in this upcoming May levy will be limited. If the levies fail, Scruci will determine how to make up for lost funds.

Bowling Green officials say they are confident Scruci's energy and child centered approach to learning make him an excellent choice as the new superintendent.
