DUNBRIDGE, Ohio — Wood County commissioners have approved a new sewer system for Dunbridge, an unincorporated community about halfway between Bowling Green and Perrysburg.
It will be the biggest project in the Northwestern Water and Sewer District's history, according to spokesperson Theresa Pollick.
"Over $13 million and it provides water and sewer to areas that don't currently have them," Pollick said.
The district will install new sewer lines in a six-mile radius and two miles for water lines, giving the area its own source of clean water.
Pollick said the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency "found the area of Dunbridge to have issues with water quality" and ordered the sewer system be installed to add new utilities and keep the environment clean.
"Anytime you have systems that are aged, they can cause a lot of environmental problems," she said. "And what this project does is it's going to help with those problems and going to alleviate those problems."
Pollick added that the public reception for the project has been mostly positive and thankful that the community will have access to cleaner water sources.
"Anytime you can invest in infrastructure, especially newer infrastructure, it can have so many benefits for the area," she said.
The project is expected to start before the end of the year and will wrap up by the end of 2025, according to Pollick.
