Go 419: Grand Rapids Rally by the River Days returns this weekend

After returning from the pandemic for a one-day event in 2022, this year the festivities will cover the entire weekend.

GRAND RAPIDS, Ohio — The village of Grand Rapids is once again inviting the region to their historic community all weekend long.

Grand Rapids Rally by the River Days is back this weekend.

After returning from COVID-19 interruptions with a one-day event last year, this year the historic village is offering a full weekend to enjoy.

Multiple events are scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday as organizers were able to include every major organization in town.

"We've got the arts council, the historical society, members of the village council participating, the town hall committee," said Angie Studer, the event chairman.
"Just everybody got on board and they're taking their own thing and running with it and this is what we got."

The fun begins Friday with a beer and wine tent, yoga in the park, ice cream social and a performance of the Grease stage musical.

The entire event will run from Friday 5pm to Sunday 4pm

Saturday features a mini-disc golf tournament, a "ducked out" parade, sidewalk chalk in the park and the Buck-a-Duck Rubber Duck Race in the canal.

"We love visitors, we love showing off our amenities and our beautiful location right along the Maumee River and the old, historic Miami and Erie Canal," said Joe Schroeder, president of the Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce. "So, Grand Rapids is a great place for anybody to celebrate."

Sunday's events include pottery demos, a cardboard boat regatta, and the "Pawjama Party" puppy parade.

Organizers wanted to offer something for everyone in the same way their locally owned downtown businesses do as well.

"We have an entirely full downtown business district with locally owned shops and restaurants and studios and galleries. There's something for everybody here," Schroeder said.

Grand Rapids Rally by the River Days kicks off at 5 p.m.Friday, runs all weekend long, and ends at 4 p.m. Sunday with the puppy parade.
