MONROE, Mich. — There are many places to experience fall fun in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan, and one family favorite spot in Monroe is offering activities for people of all ages.
Kackleberry Farms, just north of Monroe, Michigan, is in its 19th season of fall agri-tainment.
It's the second season for owners Keith and Laura Middleton, who moved from Oregon state looking to open another fall activity destination.
"To offer lots of activities for people to do. People spend three to five hours here," said Keith.
And there's plenty to do for all ages.
Jumping pillow and pad, hayrides, barrel train, pig races, apple cannons and a new super mega slide.
Kackleberry Farms also offers plenty of food and drinks on site.
"New this year, we've added The Trough and The Trough features espressos," said Laura. "So lattes, mochas, all of those kind of things that we brought from the west."
And of course there's the corn maze.
This year's theme for the 7.5 acre maze is bigfoot, with a cameo from the hairy guy himself somewhere inside.
"Probably the hardest maze I've ever had," said Keith. "There's people getting lost in there all of the time, it's very difficult."
The Middleton's employ about 40 workers each season, mostly area high school or college students.
They said they love giving people in the area a taste of some of the more fun aspects of farm life.
"Our passion is to be able to have someone be able to experience a little bit of farm life," said Laura.
"When there are so many things tearing families apart, we wanted something to bring them together," said Keith. "So we have a fire pit here, lots of activities where they can just get together with family and friends and make memories. That's what this is about."
Kackleberry Farms has three weekends left in the month of October and they're open Thursday through Sunday.
