TOLEDO (WTOL) - The Christmas Weed may be gone, but the seed it planted in our community is growing.

One local screen-printing company says it raised $14,310 for local shelters in 2018.

Jupmode took to Instagram to share the news that the money will be divided among Family House, Rebekah’s Haven, St. Paul’s and the Cherry Street Mission. Shirts remain on sale and money will continue to be donated.

Jupmode said Monday that $14,310 was raised from sales of its Christmas Weed shirt. The donation was divided among Family House, Rebekah's Haven, St. Paul's and the Cherry Street Mission.

Go 419 Host Malena Caruso was at the shop, behind the scenes and there as the first Toledo Christmas Weed “O Christmas Weed, O Christmas Weed.” shirt came off of the press.

Other area shirt companies came up with their own designs inspired by the little weed that sprouted roots in our hearts, also making donations to local charities from the proceeds of the shirt.

Jupmode made the promise that $5 from the sale of every shirt, which retails for $24, will go to local charities.

Lateral Gig also released a Christmas Weed shirt, with some proceeds going to Feet on the Street, a Toledo Police charity.

Lateral Gig offered its version of the Toledo Christmas Weed shirt online here: https://lateralgig.com/.
