LUCAS COUNTY, Ohio — The Toledo Lucas County Public Library announced today a set of four phases to lead to reopening. While no date has been set for the libraries to reopen in full, target dates were established for three of the four phases.
All dates, including a reopening date, revolve around the current status of public health in regards to what is safe during the coronavirus pandemic.
Phase 1 of the reopening is already underway. Emedia and digital resources are available, as well as help and personalized book recommendations by phone, email and chat. Book drops (where materials will then be isolated for 72 hours) and access to curbside pickup for any requests made in advance by phone are also open at all locations. Additionally, virtual programming has begun.
However, all locations remain closed to customers.
Phase 2 will begin with a target date of Monday, June 15. Curbside pickup requests will be available through catalog at all locations during open hours. Calling for fax, copy and print services will also be available to be delivered through curbside pickup.
The target date for Phase 3 is Monday, June 22. During this phase, select locations will be open for computer access. Phone appointments for a limited number of users will be available, as well as walk-in if there is availability. Access will be limited to one hour. Workstations will be disinfected after every use. The libraries will remain closed to any usage other than computer access.
Phase 4 has no determined target date and will depend upon health protocols and current trends. With this phase, lockers will be available 24/7 for pickup. Access to the libraries will resume in full. Restrictions will remain in place on the amount of people in spaces and no gatherings of 10 or more will be allowed.
