TOLEDO, Ohio — The Toledo School for the Arts is being awarded for their academic and artistic excellence once again.
The Arts School Network, a nonprofit association that provides support, networking and resources for art education institutions, will award TSA with a five-year designation as an "Exemplary school". TSA has maintained this title for over a decade, originally earning the designation in 2011.
Three lucky teachers, Megan Aherne, Lucas Madrazo, and Morgan Ramsdell, will travel to Las Vegas, Nevada to receive the award on behalf of TSA. There, they will attend the Arts School Network 2022 National Conference to represent TSA, listen to keynote speakers, and meet other representatives of excellent arts schools.
In addition to artistic excellence, TSA has also been recognized for their academics. On Sept. 22, TSA was awarded the GreatSchools’ 2022 College Success Award.
GreatSchools, a nonprofit which provides details on schools for the public, recognizes exemplary schools with the College Success Award based on how well students are prepared for college. Some of the criteria include college enrollment rates, college-level coursework preparedness, and student persistence past the first year of college.
These awards are merited by TSA's commitment to providing an environment in which students can excel in academics and the arts. "These two awards highlight that fact that TSA provides an educational environment that fosters student success academically and artistically," said Rob Koenig, Interim Director of TSA. "Our remarkable faculty and staff provide students the support needed to explore their artistic talents and academic potential.”
A public celebration will be held on Friday, Oct. 7, at 9:00 a.m. to celebrate these prestigious awards.
Such distinctions could not have come at a better time for TSA. Recently, the school completed an expansion project which will allow for a larger enrollment for the 2023-2024 academic year. Thanks to "The Next Big Thing", a newly integrated stairwell and expanded classroom space will allow for an increased class enrollment size of up to 760 students.
Enrollment applications open Oct. 1 on TSA's website.
