A 15-year-old male has been charged with the death of DeAsia Green, according to a report from Toledo police.
The suspect faces two charges: murder with a gun specification, and felonious assault with a gun specification.
Police said they arrested the juvenile on Friday, Jan. 13. He will be arraigned at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Authorities did not specify if the suspect will be tried as an adult yet. WTOL 11 does not name juvenile suspects who are not being tried as an adult.
DeAsia was found deceased in an alley near the 1300 block of Page Street in north Toledo on Jan. 9 after family reported her missing.
DeAsia's family told police that they had gone to pick her up from a friend's house on Jan. 3, but she wasn't there. DeAsia attended school on Jan. 5, but refused to tell her mother where she was and replied only through text, according to police records.
That same day, Jan. 5, DeAsia's family officially reported her missing.
DeAsia was a freshman at Start High School and a member of Young Men and Women For Change, program coordinator Shawn Mahone said Tuesday.
When DeAsia was 3 years old, her father DeAndre Green was shot and killed while getting into his car in north Toledo on Phillips Avenue.
