TPD: 18-year-old indicted for shooting gun nearby school, prompting lockdown

The suspect shot a gun at least seven times in an alley near Martin Luther King, Jr. Academy for Boys, according to police.

TOLEDO, Ohio — UPDATE: On Dec. 7, Crawford was indicted on a second degree felony charge of improperly discharging a firearm near a school.

A west Toledo man was arrested after allegedly shooting a gun near a school in central Toledo on Wednesday. 

According to Toledo police, Mykeile Crawford, 18, fired a pistol seven times in an alley near Martin Luther King, Jr. Academy for Boys, prompting the school to go on lockdown for a brief time.

TPD responded to the location after getting a ShotSpotter alert and later arrested Crawford. He is charged with improperly discharging a firearm near a school and is being held on a $20,000 bond.
