OTTAWA COUNTY, Ohio — Two people were arrested and one is at large following a high-speed pursuit in Ottawa County early Wednesday morning.
The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office said at approximately 3:20 a.m., a deputy stopped to check on a vehicle in a no-parking zone on State Route 2 in Erie Township when it fled at a high rate of speed.
According to the sheriff's office, deputies pursued the vehicle through Erie Township, Benton Township and into Lucas County at speeds of approximately 130 mph.
The vehicle then made its way back into Ottawa County when it left the roadway, drove approximately 300 yards and crashed into a drainage ditch in Carroll Township, the sheriff's office said.
Three people fled from the vehicle and two were later taken into custody. The sheriff's office said as of 8 a.m. Wednesday, the third individual involved is still at large.
The two in custody are James Putnam, 18, and Melanie Ann Keil, 20, both of Toledo.
Putnam is charged with felonies of failure to comply with order or signal of a police officer and obstructing official business. Keil is charged with misdemeanor obstructing official business.
