TOLEDO, Ohio — Two Toledo boxers were taken into custody early Friday morning following a traffic stop in central Toledo.
According to Toledo police, Tyler McCreary, the driver, and Robert Easter Jr., a passenger, were taken into custody after being stopped in a vehicle for "several traffic violations" around 1:15 a.m. on Oct. 18 near the intersection of Nebraska and Forest avenues.
Police said a K9 officer arrived on scene to conduct an "open air sniff" and the dog indicated the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle.
"Once at the rear of the vehicle, [McCreary] continually stated that he was a professional boxer ... The defendant stated that he would beat his a**," a police affidavit in Toledo Municipal Court said.
According to TPD, Easter Jr. was a passenger in the vehicle and was asked by a detective "at least three times" to exit the vehicle but refused.
McCreary was charged with menacing, driving under suspension and a tinted glass violation. He was arraigned Friday and posted a total bond of $25,000.
Easter Jr. was charged with failure to comply with order or signal of police officer lawful order or direction. He was also arraigned on Friday and was released on an own recognizance bond.
