Alicia Owens was accused in a police warrant of stealing thousands from customers.

TOLEDO, Ohio — A Toledo event planner is facing felony charges after allegedly taking payments for a banquet hall she no longer had access to.

WTOL 11's TaTiana Cash spoke with three people last week who claimed Alicia Owens - owner of Over The Top Occasions LLC - took money from them for events and services that were not as described, or not present at all. This included Shirreatha Porter, who claimed she paid Owens for the use of a banquet hall for an event, but could not access it the day of.

Porter couldn't use the space because Over The Top Occasions had been lawfully evicted from the space in December 2023, the landlord said, who also claimed Owens was owed thousands in rent.

Since then, Owens has been charged with two counts of felony theft for taking $1,875 in one instance, and $1,700 in the other, according to warrants for Owens' arrest.
