ADRIAN, Mich. — Two suspects were arrested and two are still outstanding after authorities responded to a possible car theft attempt overnight Thursday at a dealership in Adrian, Michigan State Police said.
According to police, authorities from multiple agencies observed four suspects wearing ski masks entering the parking lot of the CR Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram dealership on U.S. 223 at about 1:20 a.m. on Thursday.
"The incident is believed to be in connection with" a theft of two vehicles at the same dealership on Monday, police said.
In the Thursday incident, MSP troopers, Lenawee County sheriff's deputies and a Madison Township police officer observed the suspects attempting to break into vehicles in the dealership's front parking lot.
Authorities attempted to contact the suspects who then fled on foot, according to police.
Officers pursued and arrested one suspect found hiding in a dumpster by an Aldi grocery store. Another suspect was arrested during a traffic stop while attempting to leave the city.
Both suspects were lodged at the Lenawee County Jail for "multiple charges in relation to Motor Vehicle Theft and Resisting and Obstructing. Their identities will be withheld pending arraignment," according to police.
Two more suspects are still outstanding and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
