BOWLING GREEN, Ohio — A Bowling Green couple was arrested early Sunday morning after an altercation with police following an alleged assault at Nate and Wally's Fishbowl bar.
Bowling Green police responded to the bar around 2:00 a.m. on Nov. 10 after receiving a report of a disturbance involving a man and a woman. According to police, a bar employee reported being struck multiple times in the head with a beer bottle by a man later identified as Keith Kirkendall, 34. Witnesses told police that he had fled to a nearby Circle K gas station following the incident.
Officers located Kirkendall at the gas station and attempted to speak with him, but police said he refused to provide his identification or cooperate with their investigation. When officers moved to detain him, Kirkendall reportedly resisted, leading to a physical struggle in which he was eventually restrained and handcuffed.
During the altercation, Kirkendall's wife, Danielle Kirkendall, 34, allegedly attempted to interfere with the officers. Police noted that she appeared highly intoxicated, was yelling at officers and ignored commands to stay back. Officers ultimately detained Danielle after she continued to approach her husband and attempted to confront bystanders who were watching the incident.
Keith Kirkendall was charged with assault and obstructing official business, while Danielle Kirkendall was charged with obstructing official business and disorderly conduct. Both were taken to the Wood County Justice Center.
Danielle pleaded not guilty to both charges. She's scheduled back in Bowling Green Municipal Court on Nov. 27.
BG Municipal Court documents list Keith's court date as pending.
The incident remains under investigation by Bowling Green police.
