TOLEDO, Ohio — A Toledo man accused of shooting and killing his mother, 53-year-old Deborah Baker, in November was sentenced to prison on Thursday.
Joshua Brown, 18, was sentenced to 30 months in prison and 1-3 years probation following his release. Brown entered a plea of guilty earlier this month and was convicted of reckless homicide.

Brown was arrested after officers responded to the 2200 block of Warren Street on a report of a person shot around 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 20. Crews located Baker inside the home suffering from at least one gunshot wound, according to TPD.
She was later transported to the hospital where she later died. Autopsy results revealed that Baker died of a gunshot wound to the chest. Her manner of death was ruled a homicide.
Court documents give Brown's description of what led up to the shooting. He told police he heard "someone walking up the stairs of his home, which caused him to become afraid."
"[Brown] retrieved the handgun he had on his lap, walked out onto the hallway and fired once from his handgun, striking and killing his mother."
