Driver indicted in hit-and-run crash that killed 72-year-old pedestrian

Kyle Hassan-Morgan, 26, is accused of hitting Ralph Hamilton Jr., 72, as he crossed Douglas Road on June 20 and fleeing the scene. Hamilton died from his injuries.

TOLEDO, Ohio — A driver accused of a deadly hit-and-run crash in west Toledo was indicted by a grand jury on Monday.

Kyle Hassan-Morgan, 26, was indicted on charges of aggravated vehicular homicide and failure to stop after an accident.

According to court documents, 72-year-old Ralph Hamilton Jr. was crossing Douglas Road when struck by a vehicle driven by Morgan on June 20, 2023. Morgan initially stopped before fleeing the scene of the crash, police said.

At the time of the crash, Hassan-Morgan had a suspended license.

Hamilton was taken to the hospital and died from his injuries.

In the days following the crash, the Toledo Police Department requested the public's help in locating the driver of the car believed to be responsible.
