TOLEDO, Ohio — Friends and family gathered together Sunday night to mourn and remember the legacy of a east Toledo man who was shot and killed over the weekend.
Those who were close to 24-year-old Tyler Carr said he will be remembered for his kind personality and how many lives he touched.
Friends and neighbors went to a vigil in Carr's honor to comfort his family and say how much Carr meant to them.
Relatives had positive memories and stories to share about Carr.
“He was loved by, probably this is not even a quarter of the people here, there's probably hundreds of other people. We just wanted to remember him in his name” his sister, Brittney Carr, said.
“He was a family man and he was the dad of my children so it's sad and I just hope they find whoever did this to him,” Carr's former girlfriend, Ashley Hammonds, said.
Many of those who attended the vigil said they want justice for Carr. He was shot on Saturday morning around 4 a.m.
Toledo Police were called to the corner of White and Ironwood Streets near east Broadway Street. .
Detectives said he had been shot in the chest when they found him.
Three men have been arrested and charged in relation to Carr's death.
Darion Martin, 24, was arrested Saturday night and is charged aggravated murder while committing or attempting to commit felonious offenses. He is accused of driving two other suspects to the scene. Dominique Roberts, 28, was charged with aggravated robbery and aggravated murder.
The third man, Justin Wright, was arrested by U.S. Marshals on July 8 after being on the run since the shooting.
He is also charged with aggravated murder.
