MONROE COUNTY, Mich. — The Monroe County Prosecutor's Office announced Thursday the sentencing of the final two defendants convicted of charges in the 2023 murder of a Monroe woman.
Brin Smith, 21, and Kaylyn Ramsey, 34, were each sentenced to 40 to 60 years in prison after pleading no contest to murder charges in the shooting death of Kayla Sedoskey, 23, who was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds at the abandoned Boysville Juvenile Facility in Frenchtown Township last year.
Steven Bails was sentenced earlier this month to life in prison without the possibility of parole after he was convicted in March of first-degree murder in the death of Sedoskey.
Narena Bails, Steven's wife, was sentenced to 13.5-30 years in prison. She pleaded guilty to second-degree homicide in February.
Sierra Bemis was sentenced to 18 years and nine months to 30 years in prison. She also pleaded guilty to second-degree homicide in February.
The fourth defendant sentenced, Alexander Feko, received 5-10 years after he pleaded guilty to tampering with evidence and three counts of accessory after the fact to a felony.
Narena Bails, Bemis and Feko all testified at Steven Bails' trial.
The prosecuting attorney says that the motive for killing Sedoskey remains unclear, but that the investigation revealed Smith lured her into the abandoned facility where her killers then attacked her.
