FOSTORIA, Ohio — An illegal gambling operation was uncovered at a Fostoria bar during a raid, authorities announced Wednesday.
According to the Ohio Investigative Unit's website and the agency's social media, agents executed a search warrant at "Smokehouse Bar" in Fostoria. Authorities investigated the bar, where they said they uncovered the illicit use of Bingo tickets and the operation of electronic video gambling devices that passed out cash prizes.
Among these alleged unauthorized gambling operations were also weekly and monthly raffle prizes. Authorities also said they seized from the bar seven electronic video gambling devices, 14 bags of illegal Instant Bingo tickets, $6,328.90 in cash and "miscellaneous records".
The Ohio Investigative Unit issued four administrative violations for gambling infractions. They said they would also present felony criminal charges for the gambling offenses in Seneca County.
The OIU is a state law enforcement agency. According to its website, the agency enforces Ohio's alcohol, tobacco and gambling laws, among several others.
