HICKSVILLE, Ohio — A suspect was arrested following an aggravated robbery and police chase in Hicksville early Thursday.
According to a press release from Hicksville police, officers responded to a convenience store in the 500 block of East High Street just after 3 a.m. on a report of an armed robbery. Police said the clerk was not injured in the robbery.
The suspect fled the scene on foot, police said, but later located a vehicle they believed to be the suspect vehicle.
Police initiated a pursuit, on East High Street and the suspect fled, authorities said. The chase ended when the suspect vehicle lost control on State Route 2 near Buckskin Road and crashed.
Authorities said the suspect vehicle rolled multiple times and ejected the driver. Emergency crews transported the driver to a hospital in Indiana.
Authorities said they positively identified the suspect as Octavious J.H. Roberson, 24, of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, whom they said was also the suspect in the robbery. Officers also said they recovered a firearm at the scene of the crash.
Upon his release from the hospital, police arrested Roberson and held him at the Allen County Jail in Indiana. Roberson was charged with aggravated robbery and is awaiting extradition to Ohio, as well as other pending charges.
