TOLEDO, Ohio — A 15-year-old has been charged with felonious assault for the shooting of a 10-year-old in a west Toledo neighborhood Saturday evening. In a report, Toledo police described the shooting as "accidental."
The 15-year-old has been booked into the Lucas County Juvenile Justice Center, TPD spokesperson Lt. Paul Davis told WTOL 11.
The 10-year-old was shot just before 6 p.m. inside of a home on the 1700 block of Brussels Street near Matlack Avenue, according to police.
The victim was taken to the hospital by private vehicle before authorities arrived at the scene. The victim then underwent surgery at the hospital.
Police told WTOL 11 it is unclear where the 15-year-old got the gun, but that the 15-year-old said he "found it."
Police also said in the report the victim was in stable condition.
