TOLEDO, Ohio — Editor's note: The above report initially aired Nov. 28, 2023.
A Toledo man is behind bars, charged with felonious assault and murder after a September double shooting.
Kijuan Tarver, 20, was arrested and charged on Nov. 27 following an investigation into the homicide of 37-year-old James Miller.
The shooting happened in the early hours of Sept. 23 in the 4600 block of Blue Rock Court. Officers found Miller suffering from a gunshot wound at the scene, according to court documents. Miller later died from his injuries.
A second victim, identified by police as 34-year-old Kayla Braithwaite, was found near the intersection of Airport Highway and Byrne Road. Braithwaite had a gunshot wound to the neck and survived her injuries.
Tarver is the second suspect arrested in the case. Daiqjuan Smith, 21, was indicted in October on the same charges of murder and felonious assault.
Surveillance video, witness and victim statements and cellphone evidence led to the arrest of Tarver.
During a court appearance on Nov. 28, a judge set Tarver's bond at $1 million.
