Maumee man indicted on 17 counts, including rape and pandering child sex abuse material

Logan Brentlinger, 20, was indicted Tuesday on multiple charges of rape and charges related to child sex abuse material involving victims younger than 10 years old.

MAUMEE, Ohio — A Maumee man was indicted on 17 counts Tuesday, including charges of rape and charges related to child sex abuse material involving victims younger than 10 years old, according to court documents and police reports.

A grand jury indicted 20-year-old Logan Brentlinger, of Maumee, on the following counts:

  • Rape, two counts
  • Gross sexual imposition, two counts
  • Disseminating matter harmful to juveniles, one count
  • Pandering obscenity involving a minor, two counts
  • Pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor,  three counts
  • Illegal use of a minor in a nudity-oriented material or performance, seven counts

According to a Maumee police report, officers were alerted to possible child sex abuse material on Brentlinger's Snapchat after receiving a cybertip from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children in July 2022. Warrants were issued to Snapchat and Dropbox to obtain the IP address associated with the material.

During the investigation, authorities claimed to have discovered Brentlinger was in possession of videos and images of child sex abuse material involving children younger than 13 years old, which he allegedly stored in Dropbox.

Police searched Brentlinger's Maumee residence in June 2023, during which officers interviewed him regarding his alleged possession of child sex abuse material. Brentlinger initially denied possessing material, but conceded to police he may have sexual abuse material of children aged 11-17 on his Snapchat. Officers seized the suspect's electronic devices for analysis.

In the police report, the detective claimed they were able to determine there were no instances of child sex abuse material saved in his Snapchat. Following a forensic analysis of Brentlinger's cellphone in December 2023, detectives discovered at least 20 videos of Brentlinger sexually abusing an unknown child aged between five and eight years old in May 2023.

Following this, police obtained warrants for Brentlinger's arrest and ultimately took him into custody on Dec. 14. Police were able to identify the victim and then made contact with their family, according to the report.
