TOLEDO, Ohio — A Toledo man was arrested and charged for severely assaulting a person.

Toledo police responded to an assault call around 1:30 a.m. at a residence on Walnut Street in north Toledo. When officers arrived they found a victim unresponsive.

The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The suspect, 37-year-old Juleon Carter, was arrested by police at the scene.

According to an affidavit received by WTOL 11, Carter stomped on the victim's head several times, fracturing their skull. The victim has not been identified at this time due to the severity of their injuries.

According to a police report, Carter told officers his nine month old child was left alone inside the residence. After several attempts to verify this information, officers forced their way into the residence but did not find a child inside.

Carter was arraigned in Toledo Municipal Court Thursday morning on felonious assault charges with a bond set at $75,000. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 27.
