TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo police arrested a north Toledo man on Saturday, June 22 after he attempted to burn down a home in Toledo and on allegations of a burglary Saturday.

According to a report from the Toledo Municipal Court, Daniel Carrizales, 36, caused physical harm to an occupied home after pouring gasoline on the ground at the rear of the house before lighting it on fire. A Toledo police report indicated this occurred on Canal Avenue. Carrizales was not immediately arrested during this incident.

Police later responded to the 800 block of Western Avenue in south Toledo on a report of a burglary. The homeowner told officers Carrizales, armed with a knife, forced his way into the home.

Police forced entry into the home, after which Carrizales allegedly jumped out of a window and fled. Officers eventually took him into custody; Carrizales was transported to the hospital for taser exposure.

Carrizales was booked into the Lucas County Court Sunday, June 23 where he was formally charged with aggravated arson and harming an occupied structure.

Carrizales was arraigned Monday, where a judge set his bond at $75,000.
