Stabbing victim found dead in Fremont, suspect in custody

The victim was found stabbed in the 300 block of May Street late Saturday afternoon. Officers arrested a suspect, 31-year-old Judd G. Campbell, for murder.

FREMONT, Ohio — A suspect is in custody after a man was found stabbed to death Saturday afternoon in Fremont.

Officers responded to a request for help with an unresponsive person shortly after 4:30 p.m. Saturday in the 300 block of May Street, according to a press release from the Fremont Police Department. The victim, who police identified as male, had been stabbed and was found dead at the scene.

The victim's name and age have not been released.

Around 6:14 p.m. Saturday, authorities detained 31-year-old Judd G. Campbell. He was later taken into custody for murder, Fremont police said.

Campbell was taken to the Sandusky County Jail and is awaiting arraignment in the Fremont Municipal Court.

The Sandusky County Coroner's Office and Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation were called to assist with collecting and processing evidence.

The investigation is still active. Detectives believe the suspect acted alone and that there is no further threat to the community.
