A man was indicted Thursday for aggravated murder for allegedly assaulting and killing another man inside his home in east Toledo.

Ronnie Kanavel, 21, was indicted by a Lucas County Grand Jury on one count of aggravated murder, one count of murder, one count of felonious assault and one count of aggravated burglary.

Police said Kanavel and a 15-year-old assaulted Curtis Marshall, 57, inside his home on Licking Street near Front Street on Oct. 22.

According to police, they responded to the scene around 11:30 p.m. and found Marshall. He was taken to the hospital where he later died. The Lucas County Coroner's Office said Marshall's cause of death was blunt head and neck trauma.

Court documents state that Kanavel allegedly assaulted Marshall "with his hands and feet." Police said after the victim was knocked unconscious, Kanavel fled the scene.

The 15-year-old suspect is also charged with murder. It is WTOL 11 policy to not name juvenile suspects unless they are charged as adults.
