MONROE, Mich. — A judge in Monroe on Thursday sentenced a Napoleon man to prison for leading police on a pursuit last year across the Ohio-Michigan state line that ended in a crash that killed his passenger.
Kim Lynn Fitch Jr, 32, received 17-30 years for involuntary manslaughter, fleeing and eluding a police officer and reckless driving causing death, according to a press release from the Monroe County Prosecutor's Office.
Fitch's passenger, Lesley Rosales, 46, of Leipsic, Ohio, was pronounced dead at the hospital after the crash in Dundee on Jan. 6, 2023.
The pursuit began in the northeastern corner of Lucas County when Fitch fled police during a traffic stop.
It continued into Monroe County, with Fitch leading police on "a dangerous chase at speeds in excess of 90 miles per hour, travelling into on-coming traffic on flat tires from stop-sticks thrown down on three different occasions during the pursuit," the prosecutor's office said.
