MONROE COUNTY, Michigan — A man believed to be a Venezuelan national was arrested in Monroe County on Wednesday with multiple fraudulent identification cards, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities were dispatched to Dean Road in Bedford Township at 7:46 p.m. regarding a crash after receiving a 911 call, according to a news release. Authorities were told a driver had crashed a delivery vehicle into a ditch.
Deputies from the Monroe County Sheriff's Office arrived and identified the driver in the crash. They said the investigation led them to determine the suspect was a 29-year-old Venezuelan national. The deputies also claimed the man had "several" fraudulent ID cards, including a fake Social Security card.
The sheriff's office contacted U.S. Border Patrol agents, who took the man into custody. The incident remains under investigation, authorities said.
