MONROE COUNTY, Michigan — The Monroe County Sheriff's Office is investigating two separate assaults of females that happened this week.
The sheriff's office says a male subject was the offender in both incidents, which happened in Monroe Township. Investigators are trying to determine if the same person is responsible for both assaults.
The first incident happened during the early morning of July 15 in the area of Waterloo Park, just north of South Custer Road by River Raisin, the sheriff's office said in a press release Thursday. The second incident happened during the late night of July 17 in a wooded area along Frenchcreek in the Meadowbrook Mobile Home Community.
Anyone with information on either incident is asked to call the detective bureau at 734-240-7530.
The city of Monroe's public safety department and the Michigan State Police are assisting in the investigation.
Monroe County Sheriff Troy Goodnough said in the press release citizens need to remain aware of their surroundings and avoid being alone in dark, secluded areas.
"If you have been the victim of an assault and have not previously reported the incident, please call Monroe County Central Dispatch at 734-243-7070.
